Thursday September 4th, 2008Thaddeus Holownia Exhibit
This exhibition of photographs by Canadian artist, Thaddeus Holownia is a homage to the Atlantic Salmon rivers. "Silver Ghost" begins on September 4 and continues until September 16. A public reception (part of the Sackville Gallery Crawl) will take place on Friday, September 12 beginning at 7:45 pm. The artist will be in attendance. All are welcome. The 20th Annual Tantramar Toys for Tots Motorcycle Run will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2008. Since 1989, the Toy Run has generated over $160,000.00 for families at Christmas and difficult times in their lives in 5 communities located in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Last year we raised over $20,000.00 and had 1200 people attend on 850 motorcycles. Let's make it 1000 bikes this year for the kids!!! Participants are asked to bring a NEW TOY or a cash donation (official tax receipts available on site). We will meet at noon in the McDonalds Restaurant (exit 504) parking lot in Sackville, New Brunswick and will "head out on the road" at 2:00 p.m. Free burgers provided by Danny Moore of McDonalds. Trip draw, lots of door prizes and a new route (including much better traffic control) and improved format will make this Toy Run the best ever with YOUR HELP. Later in the evening, please join us for the Toy Run Fundraising Concert with Matt Minglewood and Band plus opening acts TBA at the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre, 182 Main Street in Sackville, N.B. for fun that will take you into the wee hours. Tickets $20 advance ($22 door) will be available in July at various outlets including Frank's Music, Moncton; Tidewater Books, Ducky's Lounge, Sackville; and Pugsley's Pharmacy, Amherst. The 2008 Cultural Capitals Music Series and Catbird Jazz presents Jazz Sensation Emilie Claire Barlow in concert with Remi Jean LeBlanc. Emilie Claire Barlow has a voice that is pure, her selection of jazz standards is second to none in the world. This Toronto-based Jazz singer is on the rise. Appearing at the International Jazz Festival in Montreal and having been taken under the wing of the music programmers there, it is indeed a special treat for her to come to Sackville. Remi Jean Lelanc will start the show with his unique and rhymtic brand of jazz. The event will be held at the Sackville United Church, 112 Main Street at 8:00 pm, doors open at 7:30 pm.
